John Gossett’s life is a testament to grit, empathy, and personal reinvention. Growing up in Manistee, Michigan, he faced early challenges as his family supported his brother Christopher, who was born with a profound disability. These experiences shaped his understanding of resilience and compassion from a young age.
John went on to serve fourteen years in the U.S. Army and the Michigan Army National Guard (1987–2001), where he developed the discipline and courage that continue to guide his work today. Following his honorable discharge, he pursued his passion for mental health, earning a Master of Social Work degree from Grand Valley State University and completing undergraduate studies at the University of Olivet and Davenport University.
With over two decades of experience as a psychotherapist and behavioral health consultant, John has helped countless individuals and families navigate life’s most difficult moments. He believes that true healing begins with honesty, empathy, and the willingness to face one’s own fire.
